Le Portail Rouge
The house is situated in a beautiful area in the Lot-et-Garonne, only 20 minutes drive from Bergerac Airport. With 360 degree views over rolling hills, this is the ‘get-away-from-it-all’ holiday.
The house has 5 bedrooms, 2 with en-suites, one en-suite is a wet room with a walk-in shower. There is also a large family bathroom with freestanding roll-top bath looking out over the surrounding countryside. All bedrooms have kingsize beds, in two bedrooms the bed can be split to make two single beds. For those of you lucky enough to have twins or two babies close in age, we have two cots and two high chairs. There is a large kitchen and an 8’ wooden dining table to enjoy family meals with three double French doors opening out onto the sun terrace. The lounge has a large open fire. You will be surprised that the house does not have a television. It was our decision that we really wanted to get away from everything, even the tele! Instead we spend time playing one of the many board games, enjoy a game of pool, table tennis or darts, take a swim in the heated pool, or sit and enjoy the peace, watch the sunset and chill with a glass of wine! Sometimes the children do need to chill out so why not bring a portable dvd player and watch one of our dvd's.
The South West of France is a land of vineyards and plum trees, sunflowers and soft rolling landscape with wonderful views. It is peppered with medieval villages, ancient towns and castles. Le Portail Rouge is near many of the region's most popular medieval villages and bastides, including Eymet, Villereal and Monflanquin. Lauzun is the nearest market town, only 5 minutes by car, where you can buy bread and groceries, and there is a hypermarket at Miramont 15 minutes away. Castillonnes is a larger town, with good restaurants and shopping facilities and is 10 minutes by car. There are two golf courses within easy reach, Villeneuve Golf and Country Club and Chateau Vigier, they are both approximately half an hours drive away. The Lot Valley and the Dordogne Valley are both with 25 km so whether it's cultural or sporting activities you prefer, you don't have to travel far to find them. Bergerac is half an hour's drive where there are many shops, a beautiful old quarter with narrow cobbled streets and many fine restaurants. Bergerac airport, served by Ryanair and Flybe is 20 minutes drive away. There are many activities in the area for all ages, including markets, antique fairs, village festivals, concerts and many other events throughout the summer season. There are also the nearby vineyards and Chateaux of Monbazillac and Pecharmant, two of many in the ‘Pays de Bergerac’ region.

The summer of 2008 was our first year of renting and we received the following feedback from clients:
"Just wanted to say on behalf of all of our party what a fabulous time we had at the house for the last couple of weeks. Your house and pool are fantastic and we would love to go back! We enjoyed it so much we are talking of moving to the area in our retirement. The peace and beauty of the location is stunning". Judith
"Ditto to everything Jude says – I don’t know about retirement, I’ve been back at work 4 days and am ready to go back now ! I also seem to have got out of the habit of watching T.V.! Loved the house – you couldn’t have picked a better spot – and what you’ve done with it is fab". I bet you can’t wait to get back down there………….. Deborah
